Tregib Astro Crowd Funding Strategy

Our proposed aim

To work together to fundraise and campaign to have the Tregib Astroturf surface replaced by Summer 2023.

To raise £300,000 to replace the Astro surface with a new Hockey Turf Pitch (HTP surface) suitable for Football, Rugby and Hockey and to install new LED floodlights.
To have this funding in place by January 2023 to give time for the surface to be commissioned.

An assessment of the current Astro surface

An independent Pitch Condition Survey undertaken by Notts Sport in November 2017 suggested it was advisable that Astro was resurfaced in 3 to 5 years, a subsequent report commissioned by Carmarthenshire County Council in 2019 recommended that the surface be replaced within 24 months. We therefore have a target for resurfacing in Summer 2023.

After much careful deliberation, we have now appointed a Project Manager to help us oversee the refurbishment of the Astro Turf, welcome Neil McHugh of Muga-UK Ltd. Grant update (10/11/22)

In terms of grant applications, it is extremely positive to see that TSF has been awarded £225,000 from The Welsh Government Community Facilities Programme, £20,000 from Carmarthenshire County Council and £7,500 from Williams Brownhill. There is currently an application for funds with the friends of Welsh Hockey and an application for £50,000 is being prepared for Sports Wales.

Save Tregib Sports Facilities (01/08/22)

Our aim is to SAVE TREGIB SPORTS FACILITIES by raising money to replace the Astro Turf which vastly funds all the facilities at Tregib. One way we hope to do this is through a Crowd Funding campaign.

Our CrowdFunding page raised over £6,000 in September and October 2022

Astro update July 2022 (21/07/22)

We have now our initial Expression of Interest accepted by the Welsh Government and are looking to submit our formal application by the middle of September, which we appreciate is short notice, but we are doing everything we can to meet this deadline. At this stage we need your help with two things:

  1. Up to date information about your club

  2. Match funding ask

Astro update March 2022 (16/03/22)

We understand the Grant application process for the Welsh Government Facilities programme and will have our initial application ready and agreed with Carmarthenshire County Council by the end of March 2022. CCC think we have a strong application, and if successful we will make our full application to the Welsh Government by mid May 2022.
